How the game works, step by step

Each track is a route to a finish line with ramps in the way. Speed gets you over them; the angle you hold in the air gets you down the other side.

The car tilts in mid-air. A and D, or the Left and Right arrows, rotate it, and lining the wheels up with the ground before you touch it is the difference between carrying on and starting again.

W or Up accelerates and S or Down brakes. Braking before a ramp is as useful as accelerating into one: too much speed overshoots the landing.

Route tips for your first run

• Look at the ramp's angle before you reach it and set your speed for the ramp, not for the straight before it.
• Start rotating early in the air; a correction at the last moment rarely lands.
• Wheels first. Any other part of the car touching down usually ends the attempt.
• Brake on the approach to a short ramp; full speed sends you past the landing.
• If a jump keeps failing, the fix is almost always less speed rather than more.

Who it works for

Players who like a track with something to time in the middle of it, and who do not mind restarting a jump a few times before it works.

Downsides to check first

• The landing is unforgiving, so a single jump can cost several attempts.
• Tilting in the air takes a while to read; the first few tracks are mostly a lesson in physics.
