How the game works, step by step

The screen is a single room of floating platforms. A carrot appears somewhere in it, you go and get it, and the next one appears. The score is simply how many you collect.

Traps arrive along with the carrots, and they announce themselves a moment before they become dangerous. That moment is the whole game: long enough to move, short enough that standing still is not an option.

One player uses the arrows. Two players share the keyboard, with W A S D on one side and the arrows on the other. On a phone or tablet the game puts buttons on the screen instead.

Route tips for your first run

  • Keep moving between carrots; the traps are built to punish standing on a favourite platform.
  • Take the warning as an instruction to leave, not as a reason to watch.
  • Collect the carrot that is on your way out, not the one that needs a detour into a busy corner.
  • In two players, agree who takes the top half of the room and who takes the bottom.
  • On a phone the buttons sit under your thumbs, so hold the device with both hands.

Who it works for

Players who want a score to beat in short bursts, alone or with one other person on the same keyboard.

Downsides to check first

  • One hit ends the run, so a good streak can disappear to a trap you saw and answered a moment too slowly.
  • The room does not change between runs; the variety comes from where the traps land.
  • Poki shows ads around the game and sometimes before it starts; they are Poki's, not ours.
