How the game works, step by step
A level is a set of platforms with a door at the end and a key somewhere on the way. Finding the key opens the door, and reaching the door together ends the level.
Every player controls one pet from the same keyboard. Player 1 has the arrows, Player 2 has W, A and D, Player 3 has T, F and H, and Player 4 has I, J and L. Poki lists the sets but not which key in a set does what, so the first minute with a new set is spent finding out.
Because everyone shares one keyboard, the game is as much about elbows and turn-taking as it is about platforms. Levels are built so that one pet on its own cannot always reach what the group needs.

Route tips for your first run
- Agree who takes which set before you start; swapping mid-level costs more time than the level does.
- Poki does not say which key in a set does what, so try all three on flat ground before the first jump.
- Send one pet to look for the key while the others hold a route open; searching as a crowd is slower.
- On a shared keyboard, sit so that nobody has to reach across another player's hand.
- A level is finished by the group, not by whoever gets there first.
Who it works for
Groups of two to four at one computer who want a puzzle to solve together rather than a race. The multiplayer needs one shared keyboard, so a computer suits it best.
Downsides to check first
Poki lists a key set for each player but not what each key in the set does, so the first level is partly guesswork.
Four players on one keyboard is crowded by design; it works better with two than with four on a small laptop.
Poki shows ads around the game and sometimes before it starts; they are Poki's, not ours.
